Required Documents to Complete To Register Your Private Accommodation Form To NSFAS 2024–2025

You might need to provide the following supporting documentation with your NSFAS private accommodation form:

Lease agreement: a formal lease that specifies the terms and conditions of your stay, including the cost and duration of the rental, between you and the landlord or property owner.
Proof of residence: A utility bill, rental invoice, or letter from the landlord are examples of documents that verify the private accommodation’s physical address.
Proof of accreditation: a letter or paper from your university or TVET college attesting to the private residence’s accreditation and approval by the establishment.
Copy of your South African ID or passport: A certified copy of your identification document to verify your personal information.
Proof of registration or acceptance letter: A document from your university or TVET college indicating that you have been accepted into or are registered for a study program.
Other documents: Depending on your university or TVET college’s specific requirements, you might need to provide additional documents, such as a landlord’s ID or property ownership proof.

How the NSFAS Private Accommodation Form Should Be Completed By Student

If a student stays in a private residence, NSFAS will pay for their stay as long as they make sure the residence has NSFAS accreditation. In order to submit the private accommodation form for 2024–2025, take the following actions:

STEP 1: Log in on your self-service
STE2: CLICK ON THE “NSFAS Private Accom Appl” TILE
STEP 3: Carefully read the information in the “Instruction” block.
STEP 4: Click on “New Application”

STEP 6: Please indicate/select if you are staying in Accredited Accommodation or in Private Accommodation.
STEP 7:

Option 1: Accredited Accommodation

If you are lodging in an Accredited Accommodation please choose the accredited landlord by clicking the magnifying glass.

Option 2: Private Accommodation

Complete the following fields. These fields are compulsory:

STEP 8: Capture the “Move-in date”, “Move-out date” and “Monthly Amount” according to the information that reflects on your agreement:

STEP 9: Capture your “Parent/Guardian Living Address”. This should correspond with the supporting documentation that you will upload with the
application.

STEP 10: Please indicate if you give UFS consent to share personal information with your parent/guarding, funders/bursars/donors and Service provider (lessor)
STEP 11: Upload your contract with your landlord and proof of home address.
