To encourage the integration of practical vocational skills into the workforce and the country’s economy as a whole, TVET Colleges are given preference when funds under the National Student Financial Scheme are distributed to eligible students. TVET colleges earn roughly twice as much funding overall from NSFAS than universities do, thus they are given priority when it comes to bursary distribution. How Much Will TVET College Students Get From NSFAS?

Accommodation in a peri-urban area is R18,900 per annum
Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350 per annum

Who Has to Apply for Funding from NSFAS?

Every citizen of South Africa
Funding is available to all winners of SASSA grants.
candidates whose annual household income combined is not greater than R350 000
The person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.

The NSFAS Qualification Guidelines for TVET Colleges

The only people eligible for this scholarship project are South African citizens.
A student must be enrolled in a PLP, NC(V), or Report 191 programme or intending to enrol at one of South Africa’s fifty (50) public TVET colleges;
must need financial aid (a student’s eligibility for financial aid is determined by the NSFAS);
Returning students must demonstrate documented and acknowledged academic performance (academically meritorious) by the College’s advancement programme or the Bursary Rules and Guidelines, whichever is greater;
The applicant must not be enrolling for a qualification that replicates prior state-funded learning; additionally, the applicant may be eligible if their combined gross family income does not exceed R350,000 annually and they have been accepted into or received a solid offer of enrollment from a college.
